Over 120,000 Greeks apply for aid from government

Almost 121,000 Greeks applied for meal vouchers, free electricity and rent subsidies in the first two weeks of a new program introduced by the government to tackle what it calls the ?humanitarian crisis? in Greece.

According to the Labor Ministry, a total of 120,726 people have submitted applications since the scheme was launched.

Early Easter boosts job hirings

The earlier-than-usual start to the tourism season ? thanks to Orthodox Easter falling in the first half of April ? helped the labor market to post a slight recovery last month, with the Labor Ministry?s Ergani hiring register showed a net rise of 22,313 jobs in March.

Creditors see Greek weakness in finding solutions

The crucial Eurogroup meeting for Greece scheduled for April 24 is to take place in ten days. There are warnings from abroad that time is running out for a solution that would avert a "Grexident" resulting in Greece's exit from the eurozone. Negotiations are continuing now that Greek Orthodox Easter (April 12) has ended but the situation looks glum.
