The Greek government may soon have to increase the country’s retirement age and slash pensions further, according to an updated copy of its bailout terms seen by Sunday’s Kathimerini.

Carers who work for the Help at Home program donned chains and taped their mouths shut during a protest in central Athens on Thursday.

They were protesting the fact they had not been paid for seven months.

Fines imposed on employers for undeclared labor exceeded 12 million euros in the period from September 15 to February 28, according to the Labor Ministry’s electronic Artemis system, following inspections on 9,642 enterprises that found 1,188 undeclared employees out of a total of 62,532 workers.

The number of Greek pensioners edged up for a third month in a row in March, reaching a total of 2.65 million.

Greece spent a total of 6.8 billion euros on pensions in the first quarter of the year, according to the figures produced by the Ilios system overseen by the Labor Ministry.

The legal framework dictating how labor unions operate is set to undergo a major overhaul following recommendations by Greece’s creditors, though the Labor Ministry has said that it will seek the consent of the General Confederation of Greek Labor on the larger issues.

The Labor Ministry’s Ergani register has recorded almost 20,000 more hirings than sackings in February, the ministry announced on Friday.

BELGRADE – Serbia’s working group in charge of amendments to the Labor Law met Thursday to discuss provisions relating to duration of fixed term employment.

The working group will discuss other provisions the following week, Director of the Serbian Association of Employers Dragoljub Rajic told Tanjug.
