Military Police

A military officer opened fire with blank rounds and threw flash-bang grenades at the 2nd Parachute Brigade in Aspropyrgos, near Athens, on Friday, according to reports.

According to some accounts, the officer is alleged to have taken a fellow officer hostage during the incident. The Military Police intervened and subsequently arrested the officer.

A man died in Haskovo around 5:00 a.m. this morning after a fight between people celebrating the New Year. Several people were injured and had cuts, and the most seriously injured person died, the Ministry of the Interior reports, quoted by BTA. According to initial police data, the wounds were caused by a broken glass bottle

The investigation of the Military Police Service on the MiG-29 plane accident on June 9, 2021 during tactical exercises of the air defense formations of the Bulgarian Army and aviation formations of the Air Force - "Shabla 2021", in which the pilot Major Valentin died Terziev, reported by the Ministry of Defense.

The US Embassy said in a statement on Saturday that it learned on May 28 of an incident that occurred during a military training exercise in  Cheshnegirovo (South Central Bulgaria).

"Twelve fathers and 13 sons were killed" in the attack on the village of Novoseoci in September 1992, the prosecutor said as the trial of nine Bosnian Serbs began at the Bosnian state court in Sarajevo on Friday.

The Parliamentary Defense Committee approved at second reading the amendments to the Defense and the Armed Forces Act. One of the changes envisages the creation of cyber-command and logistics support, BNR reports.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina has accused Ivan Djuric, in his capacity as a member of the Military Police of the Bosnian Serb Army, VRS, of having participated in crimes against Bosniaks and Croats who were unlawfully detained in Luka detention camp in Brcko, northern Bosnia.

Detainees are accused of being part of a criminal group for blackmail through physical violence including body torture and drug trafficking on the territory of Montana region, reports BNT. 

The Appeals Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed a first-instance verdict, acquitting seven persons of charges for war crimes in the Kladanj area between May 1992 and July 1993.

Safet Mujcinovic, Selman Busnov, Nusret Muhic, Zijad Hamzic, Ramiz Halilovic, Nedzad Hodzic and Osman Gogic were all acquitted.

Tirana International Airport SHPK, owned by Hong Kong-based China Everbright Limited, claimed that responsibility for responding to such major security breaches lay with the Albanian police.
