3,250-year-old seal belonging to Hittite prince revealed

A 3,250-year-old seal belonging to a Hittite prince and an ancient cuneiform tablet dating back 3,400 years were discovered in Turkey's southern Hatay province.

The excavations in Accana Hoyuk of the Reyhanli district in Hatay on behalf of the Culture and Tourism Ministry with the support of the Turkish Historical Society, have been underway for six months.

One Turkish soldier killed, two wounded in PKK attack in Turkey's Hakkari

One soldier was killed and two were wounded in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack in the eastern province of Hakkari on July 10, Doğan News Agency has reported.

PKK militants attacked the Ormanlı Border Battalion Command in Hakkari's Çıukurca district with mortar shells, the Hakkari Governor's Office stated. 

Two Turkish police officers killed in PKK attack in Hatay

Two security officials were killed on July 9 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack in the southern province of Hatay, a security source has told state-run Anadolu Agency. 

The PKK launched the attack against a police checkpoint near Mustafa Kemal University, according to a security source who wanted to remain anonymous due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Nearly 15,000 Syrians receiving education in Turkish universities

Nearly 15,000 Syrians are enrolled in Turkish universities as of the 2016-2017 academic year, Higher Education Board (YÖK) head Yekta Saraç has said. 

One thirds of Syrian university students are women and the rest are men, while 3,473 Syrian students in the country are receiving education as a part of the special "Turkey Scholarship" program, Saraç added.
