Galatasaray part ways with Younes Belhanda

Galatasaray announced on March 10 that it parted ways with Younes Belhanda.

The Istanbul side said that they unilaterally canceled Belhanda's contract based on "just reasons."

In a televised post-match interview on BEIN Sports last weekend, the 31-year-old Moroccan player criticized the club due to poor ground conditions at Galatasaray's Turk Telekom Stadium.

Fenerbahçe appeal to federation for pre-1959 titles

Turkish Süper Lig side Fenerbahçe have appealed to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to add titles to their record before the national league was established in 1959, the club announced on March 6.

Fenerbahçe requested that titles they won before 1959 should be added to the club's total Süper Lig titles.

Trabzonspor appeals to ECHR to overturn Süper Lig 2011 title

The Black Sea football club, Trabzonspor, has applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) to overturn the outcome of the 2010-11 Turkish Süper Lig, in which they finished runners-up, and Istanbul's Fenerbahçe claimed the championship title, the club's website announced on Feb. 16.

'Big Four' debt in Turkish football nears $2 bln

The "Big Four" in Turkish football - Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor - are in an astronomical debt spiral, reaching 13.99 billion Turkish liras or ($1.89 billion). 

Each of the four teams announced debt last year on the public disclosure platform (KAP) as it piled to $1.89 billion. The figure in 2012 was 2.06 billion liras ($1.14 billion).

Süper Lig clubs can sign 16 foreign players: Federation

The Turkish Football Federation decided on Jan. 13 to increase to 16 the number of foreign players allowed on teams in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Federation chief Nihat Ozdemir said the quota will change from 14 during the second half of the Turkish top-flight football division 2020-21 season.

Turkish football body, Qatar broadcaster fix payment issue

Turkish Süper Lig and First League broadcaster Qatar's beIN Media Group, and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) reached on Dec. 29 an agreement and resolved the dispute over the payment of broadcasting rights.

Digiturk, which is owned by the global sport and entertainment network, has paid the first installment as part of the deal for this season, according to a TFF statement.

Turkish football games will not be delayed over virus

If a Turkish football club cannot take to the pitch due to COVID-19 cases in the second half of the season, they will be handed a 3-0 forfeit loss, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) said on Dec. 21.

The Turkish Süper Lig and the lower division clubs are allowed to increase the number of their registered players for the second half of the season.

Fenerbahçe takes measures against virus in stadium

Turkish football giant Fenerbahçe is gearing up for matches in line with coronavirus-related measures.

"@ulkerstadyumu is preparing for the matches we will play. We take our precautions against coronavirus," Fenerbahçe said on Twitter.

In line with measures announced by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), two seats will be left empty on each bench.
