Climbing the bell tower in Kranj for stunning views
Kranj – The Kranj Parish has renovated the bell tower of the local St. Cantianus Church, the most recognisable feature in Kranj’s townscape, which was declared a cultural monument of national importance this year. Visitors are now able to climb the bell tower’s 163 steps to enjoy panoramic views.

Kogoj Days bring nine concerts, one in Italy
Kanal – The Kogoj Days, an international festival of Slovenian contemporary classical music, will open with tonight’s concert by the acclaimed Slovenian Octet in the town of Kanal, west. Due to Covid-19, only one of the festival’s nine concerts will be played outside Kanal, across the border in Italy.

Appeal to anti-graft watchdog to check PM’s contacts with lobbyists
Ljubljana – The opposition-controlled Commission for Oversight of Public Finances has asked the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption to check the records of Prime Minister Janez Janša’s contacts with lobbyists after a media reported that he had played golf on several occasions with the owner of a medical devices supplier.
Speaker Zorčič starting two-day official visit to Serbia
Belgrade – Parliamentary Speaker Igor Zorčič will start a two-day official visit to Serbia on Thursday to meet his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dačić. Zorčič will also be received by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, and will meet representatives of Slovenian companies in the country.
Stand-up comedy festival Panč launches at Ljubljana Castle
Ljubljana – The Panč stand-up comedy festival starts tonight at Ljubljana Castle, as some of the biggest names in Slovenian stand-up will take to the stage on Friday and Saturday. The festival will host some international comedians as well, and conclude on 24 August.
Peak Perseid meteor shower to light up the sky tonight
Ljubljana – The Perseid meteor shower will reach its peak tonight with meteors being most visible in areas without artificial lighting between 9pm and midnight or until the Moon overshadows them, the Cosmolab organisation has told the STA.

The grandfather of the deceased nine-year-old boy, Slobodan Bali, told TV Prva that little Luka had been operated on and was at home. He stated that the parents told the child that he had lost his brother, but he states that he is not aware yet.
Janez Mravljak appointed head of recovery office
Ljubljana, 29 July – The government has appointed Finance Ministry official Janez Mravljak to head the newly founded Recovery and Resilience Office as acting director starting from 2 August.
