Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon and her Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani committed to further cooperation between the two counties in the management of illegal migrations as they met in Ljubljana on 17 March. They said they were in agreement about the need for the issue to be addressed at the EU level.

In his view, Italy needs to strengthen its political, diplomatic and military presence in the region. He believes Italy has many competitors among both its allies and potential adversaries that are ready to exploit the opportunities offered by the context if they get a chance. 

Far-right leader Giorgia Meloni was named Italian prime minister on Oct. 21, becoming the first woman to head a government in Italy.

Chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) and Prime Minister Ludovic Orban has stated on Monday that the Liberals endorse, within the European People's Party (EPP) Congress, Donald Tusk as President and Siegfired Muresan as Vice -President. "We endorse a candidate to the EPP Vice-President office, namely Siegfried Muresan, we endorse the candidacy of Donald Tusk as EPP President.

"I haven't had any contact with anyone (politicians) and I don't intend to leave the legal profession," the 46-year-old said.

"The only candidacy I am interested in is that of European chief public prosecutor."

Sunday's European Parliament election has ushered in a major reshuffle of top jobs in EU institutions. National leaders meet on Tuesday to open discussions on the succession.

GERB Chairman Boyko Borisov will participate tomorrow, May 24th, at the final election event of the EPP candidate for EC President Manfred Weber, the GERB press center announced on Thursday. Together with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria will be the leader of the list of GERB and UDF for the European elections Mariya Gabriel.

President Klaus Iohannis will attend in Brussels a meeting with representatives of the states within the Eastern Partnership, going to speak out for the strengthening and consolidation of this initiative, a Presidential Administration release informed.
