Speaking during a visit to Wiesbaden in Germany, Turkish Chief of Staff Hulusi Akar on May 24 stressed the importance of countries cooperating to fight terrorism without discriminating between "terror groups." 

Hellenic Armed Forces General Staff (GEETHA) Chief Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis and his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar discussed ways of deescalating tension in the Aegean to avoid the possibility of an accident, in talks held on the sidelines of recent military conferences in Europe.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on May 3 met Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar at the Prime Minister's Office in the capital Islamabad.

Opposition parties have strongly responded to speculations that Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar and presidential spokesperson İbrahim Kalın have visited former President Abdullah Gül to convince the latter not to run for presidency, stating that such a visit "amounts to a military intervention of politics." 

U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Joseph Dunford spoke with his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar over the phone on April 27, according to the Pentagon.
