Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar on Nov. 21 went to the Russian resort of Sochi to meet with his Russian and Iranian counterparts, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Iraqi military chief arrived in Ankara on Sept. 23 to meet Turkish Chief of Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Iraqi Army Chief of Staff Gen. Othman al-Ghanimi and Gen. Akar held their meeting at General Staff headquarters in Ankara.

The chief of staff of Turkey, Iran and Iraq will hold trilateral talks soon amid latest developments in the region. Chief of Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar will meet his Iranian counterpart Major General Mohamed Baqeri ahead of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Tehran on Oct. 4.

With days left to controversial independence referendum of Iraqi Kurds, the Turkish government will seek a mandate from the Parliament to send troops to Iraq and Syria after consecutive security meetings where measures to be taken against the Arbil administration have been decided.
