Turkey's EU minister to meet EU foreign ministers
Turkey's EU Minister Ömer Çelik will come together with foreign ministers of EU countries at the Informal Meeting of Foreign Ministers in Estonia this week, his office announced on Sept. 5.
Çelik's meeting with top EU diplomats comes at a time when Germany had announced it will discuss suspending or ending Turkey's accession negotiations with the EU in an October meeting.

EU Minister Çelik set for talks, Merkel wants end to accession bid
Turkey's EU Minister Ömer Çelik will hold talks with the foreign ministers of EU countries at an informal meeting this week, following German Chancellor Angela Merkel's announcement that she plans to ask for the suspension or ending of Ankara's bid to join the EU at the European Council in October.

Turkey's European Union membership accession talks will continue, said EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on Monday, underlining Ankara's role as a partner in the region.
"We are continuing to talk with Turkey," Mogherini said in the northwestern Slovenian town of Bled, where she came for the 2017 Bled Strategic Forum.

Turkish FM Çavuşoğlu responds to Berlin over arrested Germans
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Sept. 2 dismissed Berlin's reaction to the arrest of German citizens in Turkey, local media have reported, a row which is worsening the nations' already fraying ties.
"When we arrest [a coup plotter] Germany starts to get upset. But what are we supposed to do?" Çavuşoğlu said.
Turkey calls on UN to be active for Rohingya
Turkey has called on the United Nations to play a more dynamic role against the ongoing violence against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar's Rakhine state.
"The United Nations should be more active in this issue," Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım told reporters on Sept. 1 after performing Eid al-Adha prayers at the Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul.
