David Popovici wins new gold medal in European Junior Swimming Championships

Romanian athlete David Popovici has conquered, on Sunday evening, the gold medal in the 50 meter free event, in the European Junior Swimming Championships in Rome, Italy, timed at 22/100 seconds. Popovici, a qualified athlete in the Tokyo Olympic Games, was followed in the final ranking by Russian Nikita Chernousov, 22 sec 83/100 and Israeli Martin Kartavi, 22 sec 92/100.

Swimmer David Popovici breaks world junior record in men's 200 m freestyle

Romanian swimmer David Popovici broke the world junior record in the men's 200 m freestyle on Friday, at the 2021 European Junior Swimming Championships in Rome, securing a place in the final of the event. After taking down the world record in the 100 m freestyle twice in just a few days, the athlete trained by coach Adrian Radulescu clocked 1:45.26 in the 200 m freestyle semifinals.

Romania won the silver medals in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay on Tuesday at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Rome, through David Popovici, Mihai Gergely, Stefan Cozma and Patrick Dinu, with time of 3 min 19 sec 93/100. Popovici, a swimmer qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, set a new world record for juniors in the 100 m freestyle, with a time of 47 sec 56/100.
