Archbishop orders inquiry into rant against lawmaker

Amid the backlash from some clerics over Parliament's recent ratification of a bill legalizing same-sex marriage, Archbishop Ieronymos ordered an ecclesiastical inquiry on Tuesday concerning the archimandrite of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, Father Seraphim Dimitriou, over his recent behavior toward a socialist MP.

Androulakis new leader of centre-left KINAL, trounces Papandreou in second round

The Movement for Change (KINAL) party's members and friends have elected as its leader in a landslide MEP Nikos Androulakis, defeating the party's MP and former prime minister George Papandreou.

With 60.13 percent of the votes counted, Androulakis received 60.13 percent and Papandreou 31.58 percent of the vote.

The centre-left Movement for Change Party (KINAL, formerly Pasok) today approved and certified six candidates for the party leadership race after examining the signatures submitted in support of each candidate.

In an statement to Parapolitika newspaper that revealed the case, they comment: “Is Mr. Kamnemos aware of what he is doing? We look forward to his apology on Monday”.
