Bulgaria: The First Plenary Day ended without the Election of a Speaker of the National Assembly

Presiding over the first session of the 49th Parliament, Vezhdi Rashidov closed the plenary day without an elected Speaker of the Parliament.

This happened after the end of the break, in which the MPs walked out after they failed to elect a Speaker on the first attempt.

On Holy Wednesday - start of the 49th National Assembly. Today, the deputies will gather at a solemn meeting, which will be presided over by the oldest member of parliament.

As in the previous parliament, it is Vezhdi Rashidov in this one as well.

After taking the oath, the deputies must also elect the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the National Assembly.

According to the indictment, sufficient evidence was gathered against Ivan Iliev, identified as "the Resident", who is a former high-rank officer of military intelligence.
