Türkiye halts all trade with Israel over military actions in Gaza

Türkiye has stopped all trade activity with Israel over violence against Palestinians in Gaza, the Trade Ministry said on May 2.

"Exports and imports to and from Israel have been suspended," the trade ministry said in a statement, adding: "Türkiye will apply these new measures... until the Israeli government authorizes an uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza."

Erdoğan slams US response to pro-Palestinian demonstrations

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan launched a critique of the United States' handling of pro-Palestinian demonstrations, accusing the nation of hypocrisy in its stance on the Gaza war.

"We follow as an example the hypocritical policies of those who teach us freedom lessons in the Gaza massacre," Erdoğan remarked during an international workshop in the capital Ankara on May 2.

Erdoğan, Özel set to meet at AKP headquarters

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is scheduled to hold a meeting with main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel at the Justice and Development Party (AKP) headquarters on May 2.

Erdoğan's agenda features his AKP's long-pending proposal for a new constitution. The initiative, introduced in December 2022, currently lacks the requisite parliamentary majority.
