A 63-year-old man accused of shooting and killing his 32-year-old son during an altercation at their family home on Sunday in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, was remanded in custody on Wednesday following his deposition to an investigative magistrate.

Thessaloniki doc festival to be moved online
The 22nd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (TDF), which was postponed amid concerns over the coronavirus pandemic in March, will be moved online, organizers said Wednesday.
This year's films, including 77 local productions, will be screened between May 19-28. Films will only be available for 400 free viewings. They will not be accessible outside Greece.

A man in the northern port city of Thessaloniki was handed a one-year suspended sentence on Monday for flouting a government-ordered closure of retail stores as part of its plan to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Police record 2,561 lockdown violations in one day

Thessaloniki woman’s death attributed to fall
A young woman who was found dead on Monday by night in Paleokastro, a suburb north of Thessaloniki, appears to have died from a fall, police said on Tuesday.
According to investigators in the northern port city, the unnamed 20-year-old seems to have been walking her dog in the vicinity of a disused mine when she tumbled at least 50 meters down a rocky slope.

Promenade closed after Thessalonians flout social distancing rules
Residents in the northern port city of Thessaloniki can use the popular waterfront promenade from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday only, after authorities decided to impose a partial ban on the area.
