Anastasiades: We expect Turkey to display 'political decisiveness' for Cyprus solution

The discovery of hydrocarbon reserves in the eastern Mediterranean creates new potential solutions for energy security in the European Union, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades told the third EU-Arab World Summit in Athens on Monday and also sent a message to Turkey on Cyprus.

Lute sees Cavusoglu in Ankara

Jane Holl Lute, the special envoy of the UN Secretary General, wasted no time following a busy week by visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Monday.

The visit was not announced ahead of time but it was made known after the fact by a post on Cavusoglu's Twitter account.

UN deputy advisor on Cyprus meets Anastasiades, Akinci ahead of new envoy's visit

The United Nations general secretary's deputy advisor for Cyprus is meeting on Friday with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.

Elizabeth Spehar met with Anastasiades in the morning and was to hold talks with Akinci later in the day, laying the groundwork for a visit to the divided island of the UN's new special Cyprus envoy, Jane Holl Lute.
