Wizz flights between Greece and Abu Dhabi resume
As of last Friday the new national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, Wizz Air, has resumed connections between Abu Dhabi and Greece.
The first flight connected Athens with Abu Dhabi, with Thessaloniki set to follow from February 4.
As of February 17, the airline will fly from Athens three times per week and from Thessaloniki twice weekly.

Woman, 34, arrested at Athens airport with heroin
A 34-year-old woman was arrested Thursday at Athens International Airport for trying to smuggle more than 6 kilos of heroin into the country.
Police said that the heroin was hidden under the soles of eight pairs of shoes in her luggage.
The woman, who arrived on a flight from South Africa via Abu Dhabi, appeared before an Athens prosecutor later Thursday.

Qatar Airways says flights now exempt from US laptop ban
Qatar Airways announced on July 6 that it had won exemption from a U.S. ban on passengers taking laptops and tablet computers on flights from its Doha hub.
It is the latest carrier after Abu Dhabi's Etihad, Dubai's Emirates and Turkish Airlines to meet new rules imposed by Washington in March for direct flights from 10 airports in Turkey, the Middle East and North Africa.

Etihad Airways says US carriers get $70 bln in government aid
Etihad Airways on May 14 answered U.S. airlines' claims that the Abu Dhabi-based carrier benefits from subsidies, alleging that those airlines received more than $70 billion in government support since 2000, largely via bankruptcy protection and pension guarantees.
