Ancient Greek architecture

Tucked away in the rugged mountains of southwest Arcadia in the Peloponnese stands a marvel of ancient Greek architecture, the Temple of Apollo "Epikourios" at Bassae.

A tourist office from India, the Hellenic-Indian Chamber, antiquities custodians and the Ministry of Culture are entangled in a surreal game of pass the buck over a Mumbai group's visit to the Acropolis on Saturday that took an unexpected turn when some of its members donned ancient Greek attire.

The Culture Ministry stated that it had no affiliation with and did not authorize the presence of a group of individuals dressed in Ancient Greek attires at the Acropolis, the main archaeological site in the Greek capital, on Saturday.

The Culture Ministry has announced the postponement of a pilot program aimed at addressing overcrowding issues on the Acropolis, with a tentative start date set for either August 1 or September 1.

In response to the expected extreme temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, authorities in Greece have announced that the Acropolis will operate on reduced hours on Friday.

The Culture Ministry has informed the public that the Acropolis, which typically remains open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the summer, will temporarily close from midday until 5 p.m.

The French Department of the Rhone returned a marble fragment from the Erechtheion temple on the Acropolis to Greece's possession in Lyon on Thursday.
