North Korea fires submarine-launched missile: South Korea
North Korea fired what appeared to be a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) on April 23 off its east coast, South Korea said, amid concerns that it might conduct a nuclear test or a missile launch ahead of a key ruling party meeting in May.
Campaign Launched to Curb Fatal Party Gunfire
A new social media campaign has been launched for the Western Balkans called "Don't Ruin the Party" - to raise awareness about the dangers of the custom of celebratory shooting ahead of the New Year's celebrations.
The practice, which was abandoned during the Cold War and communist period, experienced a dramatic comeback in the Nineties.

NATO Set to Activate Missile Shield in Romania
The US Navy will formally inaugurate its new missile defence base in southern Romania on Friday once construction of the base is complete.
There are still some tests to be run before the system is fully operational, most likely by April next year, according to Romanian officials.

The captain of Iraq's football team Sunday urged fans to refrain from shooting in the air after celebratory gunfire reportedly wounded dozens following a victory against Iran.
Younis Mahmoud made his appeal in a video message he recorded from Australia and posted on Facebook on the eve of Iraq's Asian Cup semi-final clash with South Korea.

Rifle cleared of Mikrolimano shooting linked to drive-by death
An AK-47 assault rifle that was cleared by forensic experts as being the gun used in an assault on a bar in the Piraeus neighborhood of Mikrolimano has been linked to three other attacks, including one which resulted in the death of a 43-year-old man in central Athens last month.
Businessman Milan Beko shot in Belgrade
BELGRADE - Businessman Milan Beko received two gunshot wounds outside of his home in Belgrade on Friday.
Beko was ambushed and shot twice in the stomach.
His driver took him to Urgentni Centar, a hospital that only takes emergency cases, where he was immediately sent into surgery.
