Pitino confirms he is on his way back to Panathinaikos

Rick Pitino practically announced his return to Panathinaikos' bench on Wednesday, generating excitement among the fans of the Greek basketball champion.

A few days after the Greek basketball federation confirmed the hiring of the NCAA legendary coach for the Greek national team, Pitino tweeted he is happy to be returning to the club he had coached from December 2018 to June 2019.

Aris has dropped to the bottom of the Basket League table

Historic Aris is left alone at the bottom of the Basket League after a 26-point loss at Ifaistos on Saturday, while Promitheas suffered a shock defeat at Rethymno.

Aris was for more than a decade the undisputed king of Greek basketball, in the 1980s and early 1990s, but their recent financial problems have deprived Thessaloniki's Yellows of much of their strength.

Greece coach Rick Pitino says he is planning on trying to qualify for the 2020 Olympics without Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Pitino officially took over as coach of the Greek national basketball team on Monday. He said he would leave a roster place open for Antetokounmpo in qualifying games but is not sure if he will be able to rely on his best player.

Greens advance to a positive record, as Reds lose again

Panathinaikos defeated the Euroleague's bottom team, Valencia, in Athens on Friday after Olympiakos suffered one more home reverse, to Anadolu Efes on Thursday.

The Greens are on a positive record for the first time in this season's Euroleague (4-3) after downing Valencia 91-80 at the Olympic Sports Hall.
