The war crimes arrest of Bosnian Army Fifth Corps ex-commander Atif Dudakovic was criticised by some Bosniak politicians but welcomed by Serbs, again highlighting the country’s ethnic divisions.

Atif Dudakovic, former commander of the Fifth Corps of the Bosnian Army, was arrested on suspicion of war crimes against Serbs and Bosniaks in 1994 and 1995.

The premier of the Sarajevo Canton, Elvedin Konakovic, has resigned from all his positions in the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, local media and SDA sources reported on Tuesday.

SDA officials were unable to immediately authenticate this information, while Konakovic could not be reached for comment. 

DAVOS - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic confirmed on Friday he would travel to Turkey to speak with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Bosniak member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Presidency, Bakir Izetbegovic.

"No one, in Europe, in the region and in the country, should try to open a Pandora's Box in Bosnia," the spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Ambassador Ibrahim Kalin, said in an address during his visit to Bosnia.
