Umbrella bill on long-term care adopted
Ljubljana – The government has adopted a long-awaited bill on long-term care. A gradual approach is planned and a special mandatory contribution for long-term care, a key component of the system, will be put in place later, by mid-2024 at the latest.

Turkey to start vaccinating people over 60
Turkey will begin vaccinating people over 60 and some risk groups as daily infections climb, the country's health minister said on March 27.
Minister Fahrettin Koca announced on Twitter the spouses of people above 60 are also eligible. The risk groups included in this round of vaccinations are people with underlying conditions.

A 98-year-old survivor of Auschwitz, Ms Zana, was the first resident of a Thessaloniki nursing home to get the Covid-19 jab on Tuesday, as teams from the National Public Health Organization (EODY) started vaccinating elderly care unit residents in the northern port city.

Fire in Retirement Home Leaves 11 Dead in Russia
An investigation has begun after a fire swept through a retirement home in Russia's Bashkortostan region, killing eleven people.
Four residents escaped the nursing home in the village of Ishbuldino.
A local official has suggested the home, which was registered as a non-profit organisation, was not licenced to provide overnight accommodation./Bbc

Turkish elder care homes are taking measures to protect the elderly across the country as the world grapples with the continued dangers of coronavirus.
Turkey has some 27,500 state-owned and 426 private nursing homes operating under the Turkish Labor, Social Services, and Family Ministry.
