Prosecution demands aggravated life sentence for Sabancı assassination suspect

A prosecutor has demanded an aggravated life sentence for İsmail Akkol, one of the prime suspects in the 1996 assassination of Özdemir Sabancı who was arrested 20 years after the Sabancı Holding board member's killing.

Akkol stands accused of "attempting to change the constitutional order by force of arms." 

DHKP-C militant sentenced to 15 years in Belgium for killing head of leading Turkish holding Sabancı

A Belgian court sentenced on Feb. 20 outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) militant Fehriye Erdal to 15 years in jail and deprived her of civil and political rights for 10 years in absentia for crimes committed in Turkey, including being an accomplice in the 1996 assassination of the former head of the industrial conglomerate Sabancı Holding.

Two terrorist attacks in Turkey

Two attacks took place in Turkey on the same day, both in Constantinople. One was against the police Headquarters while the second one was against the local offices of President Erdogan’s political party Justice and Development Party’s(AKP) on Friday.

In both attacks the assailants used LAW anti-tank rockets. It is said that two people were involved in the attack.
