Suspected members of the outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) have taken prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz hostage at Istanbul courthouse in connection to the case into the killing of Gezi victim Berkin Elvan.

Gunshots have been heard at the building.

Mehmet Selim Kiraz, a public prosecutor leading the probe into the death of Gezi victim Berkin Elvan, has been taken hostage by members of the The Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP/C) in an Istanbul courthouse.

Shocking images have been circulating on the Internet over the last hour, showing a man holding a gun to the head of Kiraz.

A 14-year-old girl has been wounded in the head with a tear gas canister in the Gazi neighborhood of Istanbul after police attacked protesters demonstrating against the detention of revolutionaries in the area, according to daily BirGün.

The Istanbul Police Department has finally sent the identities of the policemen suspected of shooting dead Gezi protest victim Berkin Elvan, a full year after the 15-year-old passed away following 269 days in a coma.

Elvan was shot with a tear gas canister during a police crackdown on protesters on June 16, 2013, and succumbed to his injuries on March 11, 2014.

Russian security forces announced on March 17 the tissue samples taken from Turkey have authenticated the identity of Diana Ramazova, a Russian citizen from the Republic of Dagestan who blew herself up in a suicide bomb attack on the Tourism Police Station in Istanbul's historic Sultanahmet district on Jan. 6, killing one policeman.

The family of Gezi victim Berkin Elvan, who died after spending 269 days in a coma after being hit by a tear gas canister during the 2013 Gezi Park protests, has demanded 1 million Turkish Liras in compensation from the Interior Ministry on the grounds that it was at fault for the killing of the 15-year-old.

Istanbul police detained a man in front of the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul on Feb. 27, after he threatened to detonate a bomb he said he was carrying.

Turkish police sealed off a street outside the consulate after the suspect was detained.

The family of Elif Sultan Kalsen, who has been announced as a terror attack suspect and a suicide bomber on several occasions, has cried foul, saying they feared for their daughter's safety after "groundless claims."

An attacker who opened fire on a police post in Taksim Square, one of Istanbul's most popular spots, on Jan. 30 was identified by the police as Elif Sultan Kalsen, a member of the illegal far-left group, the Revolutionary People's Liberation/Party Front (DHKP/C).

A far-left Turkish group on Jan. 9 retracted its claim of responsibility for a suicide bombing of a police station in central Istanbul this week.
