The murder of Istanbul criminal prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz in a raid on his office in the Istanbul Courthouse by two militants of the outlawed Revolutionary People?s Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) on March 31 triggered waves of trauma at a time when Turkey is heading for critical parliamentary elections on June 7.

It is not enough to call them terrorists

We call "terrorists" those people who take up arms and commit acts of terror.
If terrorists render it much more difficult to shout out loud for democratic rights with their actions...
If they serve the dominant power by making it show its teeth more aggressively...
If their actions lead to renewed attacks on the memory of a 14-year-old child...

Two assailants shot in attack on Istanbul police HQ

Security forces have shot two assailants during an attack on the police headquarters in Istanbul in which two policemen were injured, Do?an News Agency reported on April 1.

The assailants opened fire on police stationed at the entrance of the building in Istanbul's Fatih district with long-barreled weapons, the report said. 

Turkey Bans Media Coverage of Prosecutor Hostage Crisis

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu imposed a temporary media ban on the coverage of the ongoing crisis in Istanbul, where a prosecutor had been taken hostage earlier on Tuesday.

Armed men, claiming to be from the banned leftist group DHKP-C, seized public prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz in a courthouse in Istanbul.
