Enough wheat in 2015
BELGRADE - The sowing of wheat in Serbia was carried out on an area of between 500,000 and 550,000 hectares and at the level of the last year's average, Tanjug was told by Nenad Budimovic, secretary of the Agriculture Committee of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

Turkey’s 2014 wheat, barley production falls
Turkeyâs grain production fell in 2014, official figures showed yesterday, hit by the Middle Eastâs driest weather in more than a decade, forcing the country to raise its grain imports.
Wheat production was down by 13.8 percent to 19 million tons while barley production was at 6.3 million tons, down more than 20 percent from 2013, the Statistics Institute (TÃÄ°K) said.

RSD 1.1 bln for commodity reserves in 2015
BELGRADE - A total of RSD 1.130 billion will be set aside for commodity reserves in 2015, with almost half of the sum intended for procurement of basic food supplies, including maize, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic, who is also minister of trade, tourism and telecommunications, said on Monday.

Corn yield excellent, larger area under wheat
BELGRADE - The corn harvest has practically been completed, and the yield stands at around eight tons per hectare, while wheat was planted on 600,000 hectares, which is more than last year, Vukosav Sakovic, director of the Zita Srbije association, told Tanjug.

AgriMin: Wheat production at 7.37 M tonnes this year
This year's wheat production totals 7.37 million tonnes, thus placing Romania on the top positions among the European countries for the second consecutive year, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Daniel Constantin told a specialised conference on Friday.

Bulgaria to export over 2 million tonnes of wheat in 2014, despite the lower yields compared to 2013, according to Ignat Angelov, Chair of the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives "Danube 2000."
In a Sunday interview for Radio Focus - Veliko Tarnovo, Angelov argued that the decrease by 10-15% in the yield in the 2013-2014 agricultural year would not have a negative impact on exports.

Wheat yields lower than last year, but enough for exports
BELGRADE - One of the longest wheat harvests ever taking place in Serbia is 99 percent complete after being interrupted by rain a number of times, Director of the Serbia Grains Association Vukosav Sakovic told Tanjug Thursday.
Bad weather has caused grain quality to be uneven, but we will have enough wheat for both domestic needs and exports, Sakovic said.
