Bulgaria's Customs Agency discovered an illegal gas station in downtown Sofia on Friday, the Agency said in a statement.

The two underground tanks contained 4 tonnes of diesel fuel without any documents. An illegal gas pump was connected to the tanks.

The fuel was confiscated and samples have been sent for laboratory analysis.

An inspection of Bulgaria's State Agency for Metrology and Technical Supervision has revealed fuel quality irregularities at 43% of the filling stations.

Fuel prices in Bulgaria might drop, reports the Nova TV national channel.

According to experts, the prices of petrol and diesel fuels might decrease by 10%, due to drop of crude oil prices at global markets. 

Prices haven't been lower in the past 14 months. 

According to Nova TV, in some petrol stations across Bulgaria the lower prices are already a fact.

Turkey has shut down over 230 gas stations for selling smuggled fuel over the past 15 months, the Customs Ministry has announced, amid the struggle against illegal oil sales, which have reached alarming levels due to turmoil in neighboring Iraq and Syria.

The petrol marketed in Romania currently costs by 5 percent, pre-tax, more than in the summer of 2008, when the oil quotations hit record highs, shows an analysis conducted by AGERPRES.

In a joint operation the Greek police, the General Chemical State Laboratory and financial investigators are following leads to determine whether 50,000 liters of jet fuel stolen from a Hellenic Air Force base was adulterated and sold as gasoline.
