President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has accused U.S. and British forces of seeking to turn the Red Sea into a "bloodbath" following pre-dawn airstrikes on rebel-held Yemen.

The military action early on Jan. 12 was in response to weeks of disruptive attacks on Red Sea shipping by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who claim solidarity with Gaza.

In a series of targeted airstrikes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the elimination of numerous Hamas terrorists, including key commanders in the Gaza Strip. The IDF confirmed the strikes on Friday morning, detailing operations in various locations.

The two Al Jazeera journalists killed in one of the Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip on Sunday were "terrorist operatives" linked to the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas and its ally Islamic Jihad, the Israeli military said, quoted by AFP.
