Commemoration of heating plant bombing

BELGRADE - Wreaths were laid on Friday to commemorate the death of Slobodan Trisic, a worker at the heating plant Novi Beograd, who was killed at the plant during the NATO bombing campaign in 1999.

Members of the family, official of the Belgrade provisional authorities Nikola Nikodijevic and managers and employees of the utility company Beogradske elektrane laid the wreaths.

Yugoslavia's first medal-winning swimmer dies

BELGRADE - Esa Ligorio-Djurovic, a former member of the Yugoslav national swimming team, has died in Belgrade at 81.

A multiple-time national champion, she was a record holder and the winner of Yugoslavia's first medal at major competitions.

Ligorio-Djurovic won the bronze medal in 400 metres freestyle at the 1954 European Championships in Turin.

Minister of agriculture opens horticulture fair

BELGRADE - Serbia's Minister of Agriculture Dragan Glamocic opened the 19th BeoPlantFair international horticulture show in Belgrade on Thursday.

The fair is an opportunity for horticultural producers to not only present themselves but also forge ties, share experiences and join forces in preparing for the European market, Glamocic said.
