Magistrates leading GD probe to summon leader, others for more testimony

Golden Dawn MP appears in court as more photos of party No. 2 emerge

Golden Dawn lawmaker Artemis Matthaiopoulos provided a written deposition on Monday as he appeared before the judges investigating the far right party.

According to reports, the MP refused to answer judges’ questions and insisted that Golden Dawn is not a criminal organization.

Two GD deputies to face magistrates

Two Golden Dawn deputies were on Friday scheduled to face two special magistrates leading a large-scale investigation on the activities of the ultra nationalist party. Antonis Gregos and Polyvios Zisimopoulos, both of whom face charges over participating and running a criminal organization, were set to give their depositions to Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitropoulou.

Golden Dawn chief's wife and MP put under arrest

Golden Dawn MP Eleni Zaroulia, the wife of detained party leader Nikos Michaloliakos, was put under house arrest on Wednesday following a disagreement between the two magistrates leading an investigation into GD and a prosecutor overseeing the probe about her fate pending trial on charges of running a criminal organization.

Request for dismissal of magistrates probing GD rejected

A request for the dismissal of two special magistrates, Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitripoulou, who are leading a probe into the activities of ultra nationalist party Golden Dawn was rejected by an Athens court on Tuesday.

The request was filed by party leader Nikos Michaloliakos, currently in pre-trial custody over charges of organizing and managing a criminal organization.

New photos show Golden Dawn leader, MPs in Nazi salutes, with swastikas

A series of photographs published in the Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper on Monday shows the leader of Golden Dawn, Nikos Michaloliakos, his second-in-command Christos Pappas and the party's spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris performing the Nazi salute in front of Nazi flags, evidence that is expected to strengthen the case of magistrates leading a criminal investigation into GD.
