Janša warns against elections during EU presidency

Ljubljana – PM Janez Janša has warned against an early election that would be held during Slovenia’s EU presidency. This would mean being amid an election campaign dealing with itself when the country should be dealing with others’ problems, Janša said in an interview with public broadcaster TV Slovenija on Friday evening.

Ljubljana – Centre-left opposition parties have asked for an emergency session of parliament to discuss their motion to impeach PM Janez Janša. Ljubljana – The latest Vox Populi poll, commissioned by dailies Dnevnik and Večer, shows that the support for the Janez Janša government has hit its lowest point so far as 70.2% think the government is not doing its job well. Meanwhile, the ruling Democrats (SDS) remain in the lead, followed by the opposition SocDems.

Opposition fails to exclude foreign capital from Koper-Divača project

Ljubljana – The National Assembly has narrowly rejected opposition-sponsored changes to the act on the construction of a new railway line between the port of Koper and Divača seeking to strike out the option that allows foreign capital to be invested in the project. Coalition MPs pointed to the role of foreign countries in the port’s development.
