Some 22 historical artifacts have been seized in the southeastern province of Siirt, including eight archaic teardrop bottles, the governor's office of Sivas, an eastern province, said on Aug. 22.

Turkey has appointed the governor of Şırnak province as the head of the country's Security General Directorate after removing Celal Uzunkaya from the post, the Interior Ministry said on July 17.

The construction of a new road set to cut through Middle East Technical University's (ODTÜ) forested campus in the capital Ankara started on Sept. 9, after the university and the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality agreed on the details of the road in a protocol signed the previous day upon an instruction from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. 

A total of 22 provincial police chiefs have been reshuffled with a decree issued by the Interior Ministry published in the Official Gazette on Aug. 19.

Assignments and reshuffles have also been made in the Gendarmerie General Command, local authorities, and police department.

Three deputy police chiefs' duty posts have also been changed. 

Turkey has begun building a "security wall" along part of its border with Iran, regional officials said on Aug. 8, in a move aimed at stopping illegal passages, Hurriyet writes.
