With the exception of the statue of the former American president Harry Truman in downtown Athens that has been toppled, splashed with paint and firebombed, Greece has not witnessed, at least in recent years, any attempts to "erase" history by means of vandalism.

PAME protesters to stand trial over attack on Truman statue
Two members of the Communist Party-affiliated union PAME who were accused of leading efforts to pull down the statue of former US president Harry S. Truman in central Athens during an anti-war rally on Monday are to stand trial on April 25, it was announced Tuesday.
