One killed in explosion in Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport

One cleaning staff member was killed early Dec. 23 at Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen Airport in an explosion whose cause has yet to be determined, while another was wounded.

Zehra Yamaç sustained fatal injuries in the explosion that occurred at 2 a.m. on Dec. 23 on the airport's apron, while Canan Burgulu was also wounded in the explosion.

Explosion at Istanbul Airport Leaves One Dead, One Wounded

An explosion at the Sabiha Gokcen airport in the Turkish city of Istanbul early on Wednesday left one woman of the cleaning staff dead and another injured.

The two women were inside an aircraft at the time of the explosion and were transported to hospital, where one of them passed away due to the fatal injuries she had sustained.

16 companies take specifications for planned three-story tunnel project over Bosphorus

A total of 16 companies have taken specification documents for a Dec. 23 tender to build a three-story tunnel project in Istanbul that is expected to ease the traffic burden, according to officials.

In line with the project, the winners will undertake deep drilling activities both under land and at sea in the Bosphorus over the next year. 

UPD: 5 injured at Bayrampasa metro station bomb blast (see video)

A blast was reported at Bayrampaşa metro station on the European side of Istanbul. As a result of the explosion, the operation of trains has stopped. Initial reports stated that the explosion had been caused by a power transformer and that one person had been killed, however these early reports were negated.

10 suspects face four years in jail over Hürriyet print house attack

Ten suspects face up to four years in prison each over the attack on daily Hürriyet's printing house in the Turkish capital Ankara.

The indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office carries the penalty of up to four years in prison for each of the 10 defendants.
