Germany's federal government pointed fingers at local authorities after Turkey sharply criticized Berlin for banning political rallies of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) but allowed campaign events of an opposition party of Turkey. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused foreign powers of trying to "weaken" the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), after the Turkish government criticized Germany for allowing opposition rallies and a French magazine for portraying Erdoğan as a "dictator."

With four weeks to go to snap parliamentary and presidential elections, the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) will declare their election manifestos this weekend, while President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will hit the road for his election campaign rallies.

Turkey will not hold snap elections after the June 24 early parliamentary and presidential elections even if President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gets elected as president but the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) fails to win a majority in parliament, Energy Minister Berat Albayrak has said, while vowing to win both elections next month. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to head to Bosnia Herzegovina to hold a rally in Sarajevo on May 20, almost a month ahead of snap presidential and parliamentary elections set for June 24. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's spokesperson İbrahim Kalın has denied any new peace process with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), after a chief presidential advisor suggested that such an initiative could be launched after the June 24 snap election. 

Speaking in an interview with Bloomberg on May 14, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he will be ready with "different plans" for the result of the June 24 snap presidential and parliamentary elections.
