Air rail between Ba?ak?ehir and Halkal? approved by Istanbul municipality

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (?BB) council approved a transportation project which includes an air rail (havaray) system between the Ba?ak?ehir and Halkal? districts on its European side, in an attempt to improve the city?s traffic congestion problem, despite objections from the opposition.

Woman killed in tram accident in Floisvo, south of Athens

A 75-year-old woman was killed by an oncoming tram in the Athens coastal area of Floisvo early on Friday morning.

Fire service workers were dispatched to the scene of the accident, the exact circumstances of which remained unclear, to raise the front section of the tram so that the remains of the woman's body can be retrieved.

Stoppage on Athens metro, electric railway and tram on Wednesday

There will be no metro, electric railway or tram in Athens between noon and 4 p.m. on Wednesday due to a work stoppage by employees.

Unions said on Monday that they are taking the action because the management at STASY, the company that operates fixed track modes of public transport, has so far failed to sign a new collective contract.

Greek commuters have relatively long wait

Commuters in Athens and Thessaloniki wait for buses, trains and trams an average of 39 minutes a day though their counterparts in traffic-congested Rome have an even longer daily wait, according to a survey by Moovit, a mobile GPS application for public transport information and navigation, which found that travelers in Barcelona, Milan and Paris enjoy the most efficient transport services.
