In Ankara this week I closely followed the defense and questioning of Ahmet Tosun, one of the most critical suspects in the Akıncı Air Base case trial.

Ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) lawmaker Şaban Dişli, a member of the party's Central Decision and Executive Board, has been assigned as a chief adviser to the AKP headquarters. 

Dişli's brother, former general Mehmet Dişli, is one the key suspects of the July 15 coup attempt.

There is little doubt that Turkey's deadly coup attempt of July 15, 2016 was masterminded by the Fethullah Gülen network, with both confessions and solid evidence pointing to this fact, journalist Sedat Ergin has told the Hürriyet Daily News.

A report by Turkey's Financial Crime Investigation Board (MASAK) listed former Brigadier General Gökhan Şahin Sönmezateş's financial links with the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), Doğan News Agency reported on July 27.

Germany has not responded to a diplomatic note from Turkey on Adil Öksüz, one of the key suspects in the cases into the failed July 2016 coup attempt, Justice Minister Abdülhamit Gül has stated. 

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has requested to be an intervening party in the key case on events at the Akıncı Air Base, considered the commanding center of Turkey's July 15, 2016 coup attempt.

Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ has urged U.S. officials to reveal all documents it has on Adil Öksüz, who is considered to be the key suspect in the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, after a phone call was made to Öksüz from a number registered to the U.S. Consulate six days after the coup attempt.

There was big chaos and a power struggle in the Turkish airspace on the night of the July 15, 2016, coup attempt. 

"At around 8:00 a.m., we got on a vehicle with the commander and arrived in front of a building belonging to the Americans. The commander went inside and I stayed in the vehicle," an eyewitness said. 

Ankara has issued a diplomatic note to Berlin asking whether the fugitive prime suspect of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, Adil Öksüz, is in Germany, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in an interview on Aug. 16.
