Five buoys of Kandilli Observatory stolen from Marmara Sea
Some five whistling buoys placed in the Marmara Sea that guide equipment used by experts to observe seismic activities have been stolen, officials from Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Center said on Feb. 3.
"Who stole them and for what? We really do not understand," said Doğan Kalafat, the head of the Tsunami Research Department in Kandilli Observatory.

Lake Marmara in Manisa province dries up
Lake Marmara, a major bird sanctuary in the western province of Manisa, has dried up due to drought.
The lake offers shelter to some 20,000 waterfowls, including endangered bird species, such as cormorants and pelicans.

Turkey adds 687 megawatts of installed wind capacity in 2019
Turkey added 687 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity to reach 8,056 MW in total wind capacity in 2019, according to the Turkish Wind Energy Association's (TUREB) report released on March 25.
According to the data, wind energy provided about 8 million Turkish homes with electricity last year.
