A number of energy-intensive industries are planning to join forces for the acquisition of the Public Power Corporation's coal-fired unit at Meliti in western Macedonia.
PPC sets deadline for consortiums
Public Power Corporation has granted candidate investors in the lignite-powered units at Megalopoli and Meliti an April 19 deadline to inform the utility of any consortiums they may form between them or with third parties in order to take part in the next phase of the tender.

The PPC board rejected Mytilineos SA's bid for the Meliti plants on Friday, as well as the below-par offer by the Sev.en Energy-GEK Terna consortium for the entire portfolio that PPC is selling.

Coal-fired PPC plant tender draws very little interest
Wednesday's results of the tender for the sale of the coal-fired electricity units of Public Power Corporation at Megalopoli and Meliti confirmed estimates saying that lignite is not at all attractive as a fuel form any longer.
