MHP dissidents mull over forming new party after controversial court decision

A group of dissidents from the opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has begun mulling over establishing a new political party in the coming months after a local court nixed their plans to change party leadership through an extraordinary convention.   

What's the reason for all of this?

Former Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal applied to the provincial sports directorate for the usage of a sports hall in Adana to hold a referendum rally about 23 days ago, but he has not received any answer for 23 days. 

The organizers are considering a rally for Baykal at the local open bazaar.

Turkish opposition MHP expels three deputies, one member

Turkey's opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) expelled four of its lawmakers on March 10, amid deepening rift within the party.   

The MHP's central disciplinary board ruled for the expulsions of Balıkesir lawmaker İsmail Ok, Kayseri lawmaker Yusuf Halaçoğlu, Isparta lawmaker Nuri Okutan and party member Sinan Oğan. 

Opposition MHP dissidents launch 'No' campaign in Turkey's referendum

Opposed to Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli's strong support for the government-supported constitutional change shifting Turkey to an executive presidential system, dissident voices within the MHP have launched a "No" campaign at a congress in Ankara on Feb. 18.
