Part of the Third Line of the Sofia Subway to be Put into Exploitation in the Summer

Part of the newly constructed third subway line will be released in late July or early August. This was announced by Mayor Yordanka Fandakova after an inspection at the Hadzhi Dimitar metro station.

It was decided for all 8 metro stations from Vladimir Vazov Boulevard to Zhitnitsa Street to be put into exploitation.

Police to help crack down on crime on public transport

Further public transport disruptions expected in July

After the recent disruptions to Athens public transport services, there are more to come, as the metro drivers' union plans to hold meetings in the coming days to decide on further 24-hour strikes.

However, critics accuse the leadership of various unions of taking decisions without consulting members - prompting charges that a majority is no longer needed to call a strike.

Lions, Tigers, Jaguar Escape German Zoo in Lünebach

BBC - Two lions, two tigers and a jaguar have escaped from a zoo in Lünebach in western Germany, police have said.

Local authorities advised residents to stay inside their homes and call police if they see anything. A massive hunt is under way for the five big cats.

A bear had also escaped from the privately owned Eifel zoo, but was shot dead, a local official told AFP.
