Russia deploys largest air defense ships near Turkish waters

Russian General Staff has deployed one of its largest air defense ships at the foot of Turkish territorial waters in the Mediterranean, in a move to revise security measures after a Russian SU-24 was downed by Turkish aircrafts.

According to Russian RIA Novosti agency, Russian General Staff boosted security measures after the recent incident.

Turkey will focus on long-range missile defense system developed by indigenous means, hence why the country canceled the existing missile project tender with a recent decision by the Defense Industry Executive Committee, said the National Defense Ministry in a written statement. 

Iran to receive Russian air defense missiles by end of 2015: Minister

Iran will receive the bulk of the S-300 air defense missile systems it ordered from Russia by the end of the year, Tehran's defense minister has said.

"We signed a contract with Russia. It is being done. We will acquire a large portion of the systems by the end of this year," Iranian Minister of Defense Hossein Dehghan told state television late Nov. 10.

Turkey reaches 'certain clarity' on national missile defense system

Turkey has reached "certain clarity" on the decision for a tender on its long-range missile defense system, Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) head ?smail Demir has said.

"We are reviewing several parameters. We want to make a decision without a further extension," he said, speaking at a Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA) panel on Oct. 26.
