50,000 square meters of ghost net removed in Balıkesir
The Balıkesir Municipality has stated that 50,000 square meters of ghost nets have been removed from the Aegean and Marmara seas over the past three years as part of a comprehensive campaign to combat the threats posed by these nets to marine biodiversity.

Alpha posts higher quarterly profit on interest takings
Alpha Bank, Greece's third-largest lender by market value, on Monday posted a 24% rise in first-quarter net profit on higher interest income.
Alpha Bank, which is 9% owned by Greece's HFSF bank rescue fund, said net profit came in at 162 million euros, up from €131 million in the first quarter last year.

The average data transfer speed over broadband has increased by approximately 25 pct in 2020 compared to the previous year, according to a release sent on Tuesday by the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM).
