Serbia's High Prosecution Office on Monday brought charges against eight members of the Gendarmerie special police unit, for attacking an army officers in the performance of theirduties, abuse and torture and abuse of office.

BRUSSELS - Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson of EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Johannes Hahn, has expressed concern over the allegations targeted at Serbia's Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic and called on government institutions to cooperate fully with regulatory bodies, including the ombudsman.

BELGRADE - Humans Rights House, a network of civil society organisations, has asked the Serbian parliament to investigate and remove for office Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic, Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic and Labour Minister Aleksandar Vulin.

Committee finds military agency did not breach law

BELGRADE -- The Committee for Security Services Oversight of the Serbian Parliament has concluded that the Military Security Agency (VBA) had not violated the law.

BELGRADE - Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic stated on Wednesday that he has not asserted that the Military Security Agency (VBA) violated the law in the incident last autumn, which involved members of the VBA and the Gendarmerie, but that he learned that this happened, so it was his duty to check it.

Ombudsman reveals he is receiving threats

BELGRADE -- The ruling SNS party has called on the relevant authorities to prevent any threats to the safety of Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic, "if he is truly in danger."

Sasa Jankovic, Serbia's ombudsman, told TV N1 that he does not feel safe because of the threats and allegations he has received since filing charges against two military policemen.

"Here critics are considers traitors," Jankovic told N1 on Tuesday evening.

Sasa Jankovic, Serbian ombudsman, on Wednesday said he had filed criminal charges over the incident that occurred during Gay Parade when members of the Gendarmerie clashed with four persons, two of whom were Andrej Vucic, brother of the Prime Minister, and Predrag Mali, brother of the Mayor of Belgrade.

The institution of the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey has received almost 13,000 complaints since it first started accepting applications in late March 2013.

Information provided by Turkey?s first ever chief ombudsman, Mehmet Nihat Ömero?lu, came in response to a written motion filed by main opposition Republican People?s Party (CHP) Deputy Chair Sezgin Tanr?kulu.

22 attacks on journalists in Serbia this year

BELGRADE -- There have been 22 attacks on journalists in Serbia this year -12 physical assaults, which indicates a deterioration in media workers' position, said NUNS.

The Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS) on Wednesday presented its annual report.
