Street Food & Tunes | Athens | July 2

The focus of this year's Street Food & Tunes festival, which takes place at the Napolitivo bar-restaurant at Flisvos Marina in Palaio Faliro on Tuesday, July 2, is the culinary stylings of Italy. Visitors will be able to tuck into pizza, pasta, ice cream and beer, with musical accompaniment provided by world traveler and DJ extraordinaire Miss Catalina on the decks. Admission is free.

The Chessboard Runaways | Athens | June 23-27

Featuring the Philharmonia Orchestra of Athens and music by George Kouroupos, "The Chessboard Runaways" is one of many events lined up for this year's Summer Nostos Festival. This opera-play hybrid tells the story of two rebellious lovers, the White Queen and the Black Knight, who escape their strict chessboard life to explore freedom in the outside world.

Clutch | Athens | June 19

Things heat up at the Release Festival at Plateia Nerou (Water Square) in Palaio Faliro on Athens's southern coast on Wednesday, June 19, as American metal act Clutch, known for its high-energy shows, makes its first appearance at a big open-air venue in Greece.

Lord of the Dance | Athens | June 19

The troupe of celebrated Irish-American Lord of the Dance choreographer Michael Flatley will be stopping in Athens with "Dangerous Games," for a single show at the Faliro Indoor Arena on Wednesday, June 19. The Lord of the Dance ensemble made its first appearance in 1996 and has since performed to more than 80 million people in 100 countries.

Oceans | Athens | To July 21

The Eugenides Foundation's digital planetarium is showing the BBC's stunning 2018 documentary "Oceans: Our Blue Planet," described as a "global odyssey to discover the largest and least explored habitat on Earth." The documentary by Mark Brownlow and Rachel Butler employs new ocean science and technology to explore marine life.

Tattoo Convention | Athens | May 10-12

The 13th Athens Tattoo Convention brings together famous artists from Japan, the US, the UK, Russia, Germany, Austria, Italy, France - and, of course, Greece - among many other countries, as well as emerging new talent. Apart from artists' stalls, the event at the Faliro Indoor Arena (between the Titzifies and Aghia Skepi tram stops) includes competitions, body painting, concerts and more.
