New poll: 51% say election results positive, 63% say tax cuts top priority
Just over 50 percent of respondents were positive or "probably positive" about the outcome of the 7 July general election that swept New Democracy to power while 46 percent were negative or "probably negative" according to a Kappa Research poll conducted between 9-11 July
Greece recognises Guaido as interim president of Venezuela
Five months after the European Parliament and a large number of EU countries decided to recognise Juan Guaido as the interim president of Venezuela, Greece under the new government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis has followed suit.
President returns decrees on judicial appointments unsigned
Greek President Prolopis Pavlopoulos returned unsigned the two presidential decrees on the appointment by the previous SYRIZA government of the new prosecutor and president of the Supreme Court.
Since the decrees were not signed by the president, they are considered null and void and therefore are not binding for the government of New Democracy.
Chrysochoidis confirms resignation of ELAS chief
Greece's new Citizens' Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis has confirmed the resignation of Greek Police (ELAS) chief Aristides Andrikopoulos.
Andrikopoulos had sparked controversy after he was seen attending a pre-election rally organized by SYRIZA late May.

Archbishop Elpidophoros congratulates Mitsotakis, foreign minister
Archbishop Elpidophoros of America congratulated Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for his electoral victory on Sunday, as well as Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and his Deputy for Diaspora Greeks Antonis Diamataris for their appointments in letters to the three officials.
Greece’s new, conservative Cabinet is sworn in
Greece's new Cabinet was sworn in Tuesday, two days after conservative party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis won early elections on pledges to make the country more business-friendly, cut taxes and negotiate an easing of draconian budget conditions agreed as part of the country's rescue program.

A strong government and a strong opposition
As the results poured in after the polls closed Sunday night, it quickly became evident that Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his center-right New Democracy party would have a comfortable majority in the new Parliament. Also, that while Alexis Tsipras and his SYRIZA movement had lost power they maintained a strong presence.

Editorial: An opportunity for Mitsotakis, a lesson for Tsipras
The result of yesterday's general election is a great victory for New Democracy and for Kyriakos Mitsotakis personally.
Greek citizens handed him a strong majority in order to deliver on what he had promised during the campaign.

Greece's conservative New Democracy pary won Sunday's snap national election, defeating the ruling Syriza party of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
The following are official results released by the Interior Ministry with nearly 99.87 percent of the votes counted and the projected seats in the 300-seat parliament.

Mitsotakis poised to announce new cabinet
Following his landslide victory in the 7 July general election, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is poised to announce his cabinet today.
As the incoming Prime Minister had said prior to the election he had already picked his cabinet, though there may be last minute changes.
