Testing guidelines issued for arrivals from southern Africa

Ljubljana – The Health Ministry has issued guidelines on testing for persons who receive mandatory quarantine orders following their return to Slovenia from areas and countries with the new coronavirus variant Omicron – currently South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

The worst strain was registered in both Austria and Switzerland

A virologist from the Austrian province of Tyrol, Dorothee von Lar, said that the presence of a new, omicron strain of coronavirus had been confirmed in Austria. Von Lar told ORF that the new strain, which some scientists say is the worst, was proven by sequencing and that, in addition to the first case, there is a suspicion of infection with the same strain in 30 people.

Quarantine imposed on arrivals from areas with Omicron Covid variant

Ljubljana – Travellers arriving in Slovenia from areas with the new coronavirus variant that the WHO has declared to be of concern face mandatory quarantine on arriving in Slovenia starting from Saturday under a decision taken by the government last night. Entry is banned to foreigners without a residence permit in Slovenia arriving from those areas.

Ministry of Health Issues New Order for People Entering Bulgaria without a Green Certificate

The Ministry of Health will extend the term for exemption from quarantine for people who arrive in the country without a green certificate. So far, this period was 24 hours. With a new order of the Minister of Health it will be 3 days. It will take effect on December 1.

COVID-19: Germany Declares Bulgaria and Croatia High-Risk Countries

Germany has declared Bulgaria and Croatia high-risk countries where the coronavirus epidemic is spreading in dangerous proportions.

Anyone entering Germany from these two countries will have to remain in quarantine for 10 days. An exception is made only for those fully vaccinated with two doses, the second must be given at least 14 days before the trip.

UK Changes COVID-19 Entry Rules

New simplified travel rules came into force in the UK today, the BBC reported. The current system of classifying the countries from which the passenger arrives has been replaced by a tricolor in one red list. The list is expected to be updated by the end of the week, but Bulgaria is currently among the 20 countries with the highest prevalence of the infection.
