Bucharest, June 27 /Agerpres/ - A number of 522 people infected with the new coronavirus are hospitalized in the specialized health units, out of whom 92 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Sunday. In total, 1,888 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 837 are in institutionalized isolation in Romania, GCS said.

Europe has sounded the alarm for the coronavirus Delta mutation, which appears to have become a summer threat, raising additional concerns among tourism and travel professionals.

Having first hit India and neighboring countries hard, now the new mutation is beginning to spread to Europe.

This means US tourists will not be compelled to produce a Covid negative test or quarantine, subject to the decision of individual EU countries

As the pandemic ebbs and the holiday season approaches, the EU executive direct efforts in trying to stop the chaos with the travel restrictions around Europe. On Monday, it proposed to Member States updated recommendations for coordination of free movement restrictions in the EU, posed due to COVID-19.

As many as 2,372 people with COVID-19 are hospitalised in Romania at specialist care facilities, out of whom 443 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Sunday. In Romania, 6,623 people confirmed with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 2,727 are in institutional isolation.

The number of those infected doubled overnight. The main culprits for the spread of the infection are considered to be the slow vaccination of the population and the spread of the virus despite the hotel quarantine, writes Reuters.

France on Wednesday declared a mandatory quarantine period for people coming from Britain due to the increasing prevalence there of a highly contagious coronavirus variant first detected in India, news wires reported.

Germany will impose a quarantine on people arriving from Britain due to the spread thereof the coronavirus variant first found in India, the Robert Koch health institute said on May 21. 

From Sunday, all travelers arriving from the U.K. will have to submit to a quarantine period of two weeks, regardless of whether they can provide a negative test result for the virus.

A number of 3,919 people with COVID-19 are hospitalized in specialized health units, of whom 636 in intensive care, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Friday. Overall, 11,485 people confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection are in isolation at home and 4,662 are in institutionalized isolation in Romania, GCS said.

Ljubljana – Slovenia remains in the yellow tier of coronavirus restrictions, but a new exemption has been added for crossing of the border and police checks on the border with Hungary will be lifted, the government decided on Wednesday.
