Turkish police seized 100.1 kilograms (220.5 pounds) of heroin in the eastern province of Van, according to officials on July 27.

In a statement, the provincial security directorate said the drugs were recovered from a van stopped in the Seyrantepe neighborhood in the Tuşba district.

Turkish police seized 670 kilograms (about 1,477 pounds) of heroin in the eastern Van province over the last five days, the country's Interior Minister said on May 29.  

Süleyman Soylu lauded the efforts of the provincial police and anti-narcotics teams, saying the seizures were a heavy blow to the illicit drug trade.

Police have arrested a prominent leader of a heroin trafficking gang and another member, both 25, after the latter was nabbed at the intercity bus station in Thessaloniki in northern Greece.

Turkish and Dutch police seized 2,384 kilograms of heroin in joint operations across five countries, Turkey's Interior Ministry said on March 4. 

According to information received by the ministry, an organization was identified that was found to be trafficking drugs to mostly European countries.

A total of 18 people have been arrested by police in central Athens in two separate crackdowns on crime in as many days in the areas of Omonia Square and Exarchia, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) announced on Monday.

Turkey seized over 10.15 kilograms (about 22 pounds) of heroin in the northwestern province of Bolu, a police source said on Jan. 21.

Anti-narcotics police, assisted by a sniffer dog, searched a suspicious car on a motorway in Bolu, recovering heroin from the trunk of the vehicle, said the source who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Turkish police seized on Oct. 17 over 40 kilograms (around 88 pounds) of heroin in the eastern province of Van, according to security sources.

Police have seized 1 kg of cocaine and almost 5 kg of heroin from a 63-year-old man, part was buried in the yard of his house in the village of Gergini, Gabrovo, Plovdiv Regional Prosecutor's Office said at a special press conference today, Focus Radio - Plovdiv reported. 

A 50-year-old Canadian national was arrested at Athens International Airport on Monday on drug trafficking charges.

The suspect, who arrived in Athens on a flight from Lahore, Pakistan, via Qatar, was found in possession of two packages containing 6.1 kilograms of heroin hidden in his luggage.

He appeared before an Athens prosecutor later in the day.

Turkish security forces seized 10,000 opiate pills and around 140 grams (0.30 pounds) of cocaine during anti-narcotics operation, a security source said on June 22.
