Romania's COVID-19 caseload rises by 360 to 8,067
As many as 360 new cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the last reporting to date, bringing the total caseload to 8,067, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official coronavirus communication task force reported on Friday at noon. Of the infected people, 1,508 have been declared cured and discharged.

Global coronavirus death toll crosses 130,000 mark
The global death toll from the novel coronavirus crossed the 130,000 mark on April 16, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Data compiled by the U.S. university showed the global number of deaths reached 130,528, while the total number of people who recovered was over a half million.

5 more Turkish nationals die from COVID-19 in Germany
Five more Turkish nationals have died in Germany from the novel coronavirus, local authorities said on April 16.
Their deaths were reported in the cities of Berlin, Munich, and Stuttgart and the town of Baden-Baden.
The total number of Turks who have died in Germany from the virus now stands at 67.
Turkey passes bill to tackle pandemic's impact
Turkey's parliament ratified a bill on April 16 that was prepared by the ruling AKP to alleviate the effects of the novel coronavirus on economic and social life.
The country has postponed rental payments for three months on several types of state-owned immovable properties.

Two chief Turkish Airlines pilots die from COVID-19
Two chief pilots from Turkey's flag carrier died from the novel coronavirus this week, according to the head of Turkey Civil Aviation Labor Union.
Ali Kemal Tatlibal offered condolences to Serdar Gündoğdu and Mehmet Ali Kılıç in a tweet that said the pilots died at hospitals during treatment for the virus.
